MMTX Micro-Miniature 9V FM Room Transmitter

The MMTX is a bog standard 9V 2-transistor FM transmitter that transmits on the VHF (88 to 108MHz) band. If you ever wanted to build your own bug, but didn’t want to fuss around with circuit diagrams, getting components, circuit boards, etc; then a kit is great place to start. It’s actually a good performer in terms of transmitters, and is worth owning one for practicing with bug detection, etc.
The MMTX is available as a kit (£8.95) or ready built (£14.95) from Quasar Electronics at a sensible price. It comes with a PP3 battery clip, a tiny 25×15x10mm printed circuit board (PCB) and all components. It also comes with a circuit diagram if you purchase the kit, which is useful if you want to make your own from scratch.
Quasar Electronics typically deals with the UK, but if you’re in the US, Australia or another country, you can search around on the net to find a local stockist. I’m aware that there are a couple of non-UK companies that sell exactly the same kits.
