Digital Private Eye Hidden Video Camera and Recorder

You can tell that I really like these cameras, as I’ve been reviewing lots of motion detection cameras recently, such as the alarm clock and the digital video recorder devices. The Digital Private Eye Hidden Video Camera and Recorder uses a passive infra-red (PIR) motion detector to trigger the video recording rather than using image change motion detection.

Motion detection with image change detection using software can be quite unreliable, so a device that uses a PIR definitely gets my vote. Admittedly, this PIR device is quite bulky compared with the covert cameras that use the software for motion detection. However, it depends on what you’re after. If you have a home full of PIR detectors, then this device will not seem out of place.

For £100 ($200 USD), I’d be very tempted to play with this little gadget!

I am trying to do something ‘clever’ with a PIR/ultrasound sensor for a university project. The primary goal is lighting control (in an office environment) and possibilities include
    - remote controlled dimming
    - Motion Detection activated camera
i have little time to do this and would appreciate suggestions.

Erm, a PIR generates pulses when triggered. This can be read by a microcontroller. Really simple really!
