Colour Thermostat Spy Camera
This is something a little different for a wired spy camera. With wireless cameras, you have the issue that anyone can intercept the transmission, which might not be desirable. Wired cameras are considerably better in terms of privacy, but are often more difficult to conceal. Therefore the spy camera hidden in a colour thermostat is a perfect solution since you are almost certain to have an existing wiring infrastructure to conceal the video wires with.
The camera is relatively expensive at around $300 (£150 GBP), but you could easily make your own using the same concept. I imagine that the camera module is a good quality pinhole variety. If you want to save a few quid, you could make your own using a $30 (£15) wired camera module, a glue gun, and some patience. Do take care though, as the thermostat is likely to use mains voltages.

There is an idea for a project for this blog - step-by-step DIY covert camera in an everyday object. Issues like aligning the camera to the hole, and also power supply issues would be good to cover.

I’ve been thinking about that for a while. What’s a useful device to hide the camera in?
A folder? VHS video case? Junction box? etc
