Bugged Computer Mouse
Inside this specially bugged PS/2 mouse is hidden a tiny UHF transmitter capable of picking up sounds within a 5 metre radius. The mouse is plugged into the computer, and so the bug is powered by the computer too. However, as usual, Spy Catcher is very very expensive, and they are charging nearly £600 for this little gadget.
Making Your Own
However, if you have some electronics knowledge, you can easily make your own into a mouse or keyboard. The reason why I say a mouse or keyboard, is both PS/2 and USB variations operate from a 5V power supply. Providing you keep current consumption low (say 50mA maximum), you could conceal your own bug into a keyboard or mouse.
All you need is some steady hands, some electronics tools, and a low voltage bug. If you have a VHF Bug like the one from Quasar Electronics that operates on a large voltage range, it should work on a power supply set at 5V. You could also make your own voltage regulator for a 3V bug like the UHF Bug that I sell.
Given the cost of a good quality mouse is around £10 / $20, and a good VHF bug costs £15 / $30, you could make your own bugged mouse for just 4% of the price compared to Spy Catcher’s prices!
