Naughty Spies in the News

I thought I’d do an extra post today to let you know about some of the things going on in the news relating to spies at the moment.

A private detective agency called Active Investigation Services are facing charges for a number of illegal surveillance activities, such as bugging telephone lines and breaking into personal computers. They got caught by British Telecom (BT) using a surveillance camera hidden in their junction boxes, which I think is fantastic! They strictly weren’t breaking into computers either, they were installing backdoors. However, it’s an interesting case.

Robert Hendy-Freegard is currently facing charges for fraud and kidnap by impersonating an MI5 agent. By creating initiation tests, he conned victims out of large sums of money.

And the last story is about a newspaper hiring a private investigator to spy on its rival. Both papers are free newspapers, but have been dumping extra papers to artificially inflate their circulation figures. But both newspapers are using dirty tactics…!
