USB Deleted Test Message Reader
This little gadget will read SMS messages that have been (marked as) deleted from a mobile phone sim card. The device can also permanently wipe a message from the sim card for extra security.
However, recently developments in mobile phones these days mean that the sim card will hold anywhere between 10 and 40 text messages, where the remaining messages are stored on the mobile phone itself. So if text messages are stored on the phone itself, then the SMS reader will not be able to read those messages from the sim card. A bit of a limitation!
Some of the newest phones also deleted text messages from the sim card properly, and so these messages are not recoverable. However, it’s not known which phones do this, and which ones do not.
So my tip is to save the money, and not buy one of these gadgets. They are very close to being unusable with modern phones.
If you’re able to get close enough to a phone to remove the sim card, then you should be able to obtain any PIN number used to protect the phone. Then simply check the inbox and sent folder for any incoming and outgoing messages. If you check often enough, then its likely you’ll find whatever you’re looking for.
