Remote Controlled Camera - Hidden in TV!

Hidden camera in 14 inch Bush TV

From doing my daily research for new spy gadgets, it appears that spy gadgets are now going through a new spurt of sophistication. A very new product on the scene is this remote controlled spy camera hidden in a TV. As the title suggests, it features a covert camera hidden in a TV, and can be controlled using an optional remote control.

I really haven’t seen many spy cameras using remote controls, as I’ve always developed my own rather than use something off the shelf. The camera hidden in this Bush TV is a very smart idea, as it uses the built-in VHS tape recorder to record the camera image. This does mean that the camera does not record when you are watching a tape, which is a slight limitation. Perhaps a variation that has a socket on the back of the TV for you to plug into a surveillance Digital Video Recorder unit?

The obvious place for this TV would be in a spare bedroom or kitchen. Although using the VHS recorder is a smart idea, its not very covert if the subject is anywhere near the TV (the VHS recorder is usually audible). Perhaps a wireless variation would be a more suitable variation, particularly as the camera can already be controlled using a RF remote control.

Nice to see some interesting developments in the spy camera world though!

Whoever sets their pricing must be smoking crack :-)

Yeah, I know, I hate it. I imagine that 50% of the cost is profit. A good quality TV costs up to £100, a good camera costs around £30, the remote control unit is about £30, plus some specialist time to install it at a cost of about £25 per hour x2, gives a total of £210.

Not just the TV - but everything else.

I was using the TV as an example, but yeah. Some London Spy Shops charge several hundred pounds for a piece of kit worth around £50!!
