Jamming GPS Tracking Devices
Up until now, I have focused on GPS and GSM tracking devices, how good they are, how small they are, etc. I’ve also looked at the different ways you can track someone using GSM trackers and GPS trackers. Today I am going to focus on a GPS jammer, which will block GPS tracking devices from working on your vehicle.
The mobile GPS jammer is a small device about the size of a box of matches. The website lacks technical specifications, but the basic principle of jamming is to transmit some random noise on the same frequency as the receiving device you are attempting to block.
The motivation for GPS tracker jamming is quite wide ranging. Criminal gangs target high value items and will use surveillance techniques and devices (such as GPS trackers) to gather intelligence before committing a criminal act. If you jam a tracker, you reduce the effectiveness of tracking techniques and potentially thwart the crime too!
The use of any jamming equipment is riddled with legal issues, so make sure you read up on the appropriate laws before owning or operating one of these gadgets! They are illegal in the UK, in case you wondered.
