Motion Detecting Landline Telephone

This Motion Detecting Landline Telephone uses a built in PIR detector that will call a designated telephone if triggered. Once you’ve answered the call, you can listen to what’s going on around the phone for up to 30 seconds. After that 30 seconds, the alarm re-arms itself and will call you can if triggered again.
A PIR device detects movement of body heat, that’s why PIRs are used to detecting intruders or are used for courtesy lighting on driveways. There are other motion detecting bugs that I’ve spoken about before, but this is the only one I know that’s attached to a landline. This seriously limits the capabilities of the telephone alarm. For example, what if you wanted to secure a caravan? Caravan’s and other similar mobile homes typically do not have a landline.
I think that this device would have been great about 5 to 10 years ago, before mobile phones and GSM bugs were so cheap and pervasive. However, a land line bug is just not practical these days. There are so many cases in which having a portable and concealable bug based on GSM technology would be far more useful.
Nice idea, low cost, but just not useful in this day and age.
