A Spy Gadget isn’t just for Christmas…

It’s nearly Christmas! So how about a special article dedicated to how to hide spy gadgets in all things festive? For those who celebrate the festive period, I’m sure you smother your homes in decorations, trees, presents, lights, candles, tinsel and baubles. Well, they make fantastic hiding places for surveillance equipment. So for this festive article, here are some ideas on where you can stick a bug or spy camera!
The most obvious place to stick a camera is in a present. However, if your gifts are low on the ground, or tucked in deep under the tree, then it might not have a great viewpoint to spy on anyone. Then there’s the issue of when the parcel is discovered on Christmas Day! However, if you have decorative parcels around the home, this is a great place to hide a camera with a battery. If you have a wired camera, you can hide the video recorder too. The boxes can be made to be any size, therefore can conceal almost anything.

With angels, lights, tinsel, baubles and tree chocolates, the Christmas tree can easily hide a camera. However, the bits and pieces on the tree might obscure the camera’s view. Since a tree is typically in a focal point for the home, they can potentially give an excellent view of a room.
You could hide a wireless camera in a bauble, but the weight of the camera might give it away, as it will cause the tree branch to bend considerably. A bauble would be an excellent place for a bug though, as its light enough not to attract attention and can be placed prominently on the tree to get the best audio reception.

If you’ve got lots of Christmas ornaments, tinsel and other decorations around the home, then again, you can conceal a bug or camera. If you have decorations in your hallway or lounge, you can cast a watchful eye over the door or presents for any potential intruders. Christmas-time always sees an increase in theft, as thieves go looking for easy pickings under the tree.

If you fancy a spot of outdoor surveillance, and you actually get snow, then hide a camera in a snowman. Just make sure you wrap the camera in something waterproof, otherwise the camera might get damaged when it melts. Sadly we don’t get much in the South in the UK, just lots of rain. Having a snowman with a built-in spy camera is something from a James Bond movie… and then there’s the ‘coolness’ factor. Pun intended.
So there you go, some ideas for spying at Christmas. However, if you’re taking time off to see the family, then you won’t need to spy on them! If you’re going away for crimbo, then a watchful eye on the home is a good idea. Whatever you’re doing though, I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas!
Oh, and I’ll be having a holiday over the Christmas break. (I really need one!) So Spy Review will be back again on Wednesday 2nd January with more spy gadgets to sink your teeth into. Have a great Christmas, and I’ll see you in the new year.
