Spyhole camera foor door security

Door scopes are quite common in some crime-ridden areas where people are afraid to open the door without first having a close look. The same is also true in homes of many elderly people. Because of the vulnerability, a door scope can be a good source of comfort for those who are slightly ill at ease.

A natural progression from a door scope would be to provide video surveillance by installing a camera. This spyhole camera does just that. It is fitted with discretion in mind and no one from the outside will be any the wiser that there is actually a spy camera filming them.

It provides a clear enough a view with a black and white picture. The picture is sharp enough to get a clear view of the area immediately outside of the front door. Of course, it would be better to have a colour camera, but I am not sure if they are available just yet for spyholes fitted on to a door, and even if they were, I would imagine they would be quite pricey. You can find more information on the spyhole camera door securityhere.

The viewing angle of this particular camera is 110 degrees, which is slightly restrictive because there more expensive solutions with a bigger viewing angle giving a wider shot covering a greater area. Nevertheless, this is still an advantage over door scope which tend to provide viewing of an area that is directly in line with the scope.

It is great for elderly people living on their own because it provides them with the knowledge that they can see if the person at the door is who they are expecting. Even if they are strangers , they can get a good look at them first before deciding to let them in or not.

Another great option would be to have the camera connected to a digital video recorder so you can record any unsavoury moments, perhaps even as proof of evidence if you need to call the police in cases where a person is being threatened. And with time and date published on the recordings it provides them a good reference of when an event occured.

I think this is basically a good alternative to a door scope, but with bit more expense and add-ons, it can become a serious security device for people living in vulnerable areas or are themselves vulnerable because of their circumstances or age.
