Wireless Spy Earpiece

This is a micro-size wireless spy earpiece. Its extremely small and designed for people that need instructions sent to them without anyone else being able to tell. You may have seen earpieces worn by television presenters having instructions radioed to them by a director. Those are usually visible with an earpiece attached to an ear or a piece of wire hanging by the side of an ear, although modern pieces are are much better at hiding it from the viewers. This device, on the other hand, is designed to be totally invisible, making it conducive to a scenario involving surveillance.

The wireless earpiece fits inside the ear and is smaller than a paper clip, as demonstrated on the site where the device can be found.

It works by having it connected to a mobile phone where the instructions will be spoken and then recived by the earpiece. The signals are received via a transmitter from the phone to the earpiece. The microphone, used for giving instructions to the person sending the messages on the phone, is attached to the the transmiter and is a litghtweight piece of cord that can be hidden under clothing.

The device is sold in 3 models: the standard; Bluetooth; and an MP3. The product is supplied with 3 batteries and each battery lasts for 24 hours when in use.

Bluetooth Wireless Spy Earpiece

The bluetooth version, which includes a built in microphone, is a good deal more expensive at 199 Euros (just under £150) compared to the standard version with the microphone and will work with nearly all mobile phones in the UK.

The site has good demonstrations with instructions, diagrams and even a video showing how the device works.

Although its designed to work in very covert situations, I am not sure if the earpiece, though small, is tiny enough or its colour which is supposed to make it invisible against the skin, will blend enough to make it invisible from a very close distance. We know colour of skin can be different in shade even when people are of the same race, so in that regard this is unlikely to blend in as well as they say it does.

We are also told the microphone is highly sensitive in that it can recognise words when whispered. This has to be the case otherwise it would seem highly suspicious if you are seen murmuring words if you are in a situation where you did not want anyone to notice.

Without having tried the device, it would be difficult to speak of its performance level, although an output volume of 100-105 decibals, it should provide very good sound quality.

The best advice for anyone using this device would be to get in some practice before using it for real, if indeed that’s is what you intend to do. I would never recommend such a product in a test or an exam of any kind because it raises a moral issue, but it can be used in many other situations such as meetings.
