Spy Review

This can be useful in all sorts situations involving security. Sometimes its prudent to observe what is happening in a room before entering it, so a product like this, in theory at least, can be extremely useful in security operations such as policing or other crime-busting scenarios. The idea is that its not always safe to enter a room or the other side of the door not knowing what may be there.

This device is an under door viewing kit that works simply by sliding a scope under a door. The scope is what provides the image that then can be viewed through a visual eyepiece. It will fit under most doors as the front end of the scope is extremely thin. In fact, the space required according to the manufacturer is less than a quarter of an inch.

The scope is designed in a way that allows it to be adjusted so the whole room can be viewed and not just the line of area at the angle at which the scope was entered.

The product also has added options whereby a night vision scope can be fitted to replace the normal scope so it can viewed even in dark, although the images generated by the night vision scope has to be enhanced by using an adapter. I would imagine the ability to see in the dark is vital for anyone wishing to buy a device like this for security purposes. A video system can also be integrated and watched on a small monitor. Again, this an added option and will need be purchased separately.

Its not just the security aspect that makes this product useful though. A product like this has quite a bit fun element too. How about trying to see what your friends are up to when they gather round in a room. You could use this device to sneak it under the door without them realising and see what they are up to. However, it can also be tempting to go too far with something like this which could end up violating privacy issues. I mean you don’t want to use this to spy on your college flat mate of the opposite sex, do you? If you are caught it could get you in lot of trouble unless they are incredibly understanding and see this as only a bit of harmless fun.

What would have made this device more useful would be sound i.e. the ability to hear as well as see. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case unless there has been an oversight on their part in their product information page. Click for more information on this device.

The negative aspect of this is that there are no prices mentioned, and to enhance the device to bring out full potential, there are quite a few peripherals that will need to be added which would no doubt cost a fair bit.
