A Bat Plane to Help Military with Reconnaissance

A model plane based on a bat called COM-BAT is being developed by University of Michigan, and funded by the US Military, could help troops in the battlefield with essential information relayed to them by radio.
The plane will be fitted with various miniature cameras, sensors and detectors to provide vital images, sounds as well as smells. The onboard cameras will probably be used to take images of enemy instillations and other vital hotspots. The plane itself will be only 6 inches long.
The idea to derive inspiration from a bat is because of their powerful sensory systems that enables it to detect direction, distance and location of objects based on the waves that are reflected back from the sounds made by the bat. The idea is to replicate these powerful sensors on the model plane to be used for reconnaissance and help soldiers providing them with vital live information that could help them with improving their knowledge of the enemy. It is to have a very sensitive navigation system so that it could find its own way without anyone having to man a communication system to direct it. It will also be able to make its way through the dark. The battery will be charged using solar and wind power and vibrations so it could stay in operation without disruption.
Spying in one form or another has been an essential part of warfare and this will be another interesting method of advancing techniques used for spying by the military.
