Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracking System

Although we are more accustomed to seeing GPS technology in finding street section coordinates used in tracking systems for vehicles, this device is designed to track the location of a dog(s).

Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracking System unit looks like a rather large mobile phone with a slightly chunky design; however, despite this, it is still lightweight and therefore comfortable to carry around. It comes with a big, bright coloured screen display.

The system works similar to other GPS tracking systems. It utilises satellites, receiving devices transmitting signals to perform an accurate mathematical triangulation on a map. The tracker is very detailed as there are an array of on-screen markers and icons to define the outdoors terrain, the hunting activity or just adding a flag to a determined region to explore. The device will start tracking once the transmitter is strapped on to the dog.

With the area covered being a 5-mile range, Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracking System is ideal device for hunters, adventurous spirits, and other sporting enthusiasts whose dog is carrying on outdoors in natural surroundings by just attaching the transmitter to the dog.

Although it may seem quite daunting at first for anyone to use a system such as this, undoubtedly, a worthy handheld like this can make a hunting experience more enjoyable knowing the location and status of your dog in open spaces, whether sitting, running, pointing, or retrieving.

Another key feature is the ability to track up to ten dogs with just a single handheld, making it ideal for members of hunting clubs going with their dogs to the vast green valleys.

This is quite a serious tracking system and would be ideal for people that regularly go on hunting expeditions. Its priced at $475.95 (just under £240).

Looking at some of the independent customer reviews, it seems people that have used this system seem to have been quite impressed by it. Although there are one or two complaints the transmitter may not fit well on some breeds of dog, probably due to the size of the dog itself, this, however, is a minor complaint and the system, on the whole, has been received well.
