A Spy Mouse That Has Limitations

The CP-1 is a USB corded mouse that also integrates an audio transmitter for listening in. It’s capable of transmitting the audio that it picks up to any audio receiver sold by Endoacustica. As the device is powered by it’s USB connection, the CP-1 only transmits audio when the computer is on. It also operates as a standard mouse. It does not give any details as to the range it is able to transmit.
The mouse/transmitter does look a bit suspicious, however, which kind of defeats its purpose, which is to be discreet as possible and should look like a standard mouse and not just operate like one. The idea here is that if you are going to build a spy gadget then it should not arouse any suspcicon at all.
Personally, I think it has a slight fake look to it too, but others might think differently. For some, because it looks rather ordinary and cheap looking, they may feel it makes it all the more discreet or at least should not make anyone think of it anything other than an ordinary computer mouse.
Now add to the equation the fact that the CP-1 only transmits audio if the computer is on which greatly limits potential surveillance activity. Adding some form of battery to the mouse would make it even less believable, so why it only works that way does make some sense.
