A USB Neck-Tie Fan to Cool You Down in the Summer

It’s that time of the year again here in the UK when you feel a little hot under the collar and wish you had something to cool you down. Granted, the UK will deliver its fair share of cool and rainy weather even during summer, but on the whole, the bias is still towards a lot more hot summery days than not. Carrying a fan, even a very mini one, does seem rather unusual because you rarely see anyone carrying one, so how about a mini fan attached to the inside of a tie so no one will notice? Yes, Geekstuff4U has come up with a rather inventive fan that fits under the neck tie.
Here is how it works. The Thanko USB neck-tie fan is powered by the computer via a USB conection. You sit in the office in front of your computer and there are no table fans. Just connect the USB cord to an outlet and the fan will start operating at the press of a on/off switch.
Another really good option is that there is an otpion of a battery pack so you can operate it anywhere even where there are no USB outlets in sight. Great for cooling down in the garden, park, or anywhere else for that matter.

What is quite impressive is the way it hides under the tie/collar. The only downside is that it looks like it is attached to this particular tie and cannot be interchanged with other ties. So unless you are willing to wear the same tie to work everyday, you will need to go some days without it because at the moment they don’t have any other colours or designs. Also, the fan obviously targets the area under the collar and therefore you cannot feel the breeze across your face.
Unfortunately it does not say whether there is adjustable fan speed and the maximum power it can operate on, but I assume its all one speed.

I’d like to see what happens the first time you try to get up and leave your desk and forget you have this plugged in. Geek disaster.
