According to an investigation by a UK radio station, BBC's Radio Five Live, some private investigators are delving into illegal practises in carrying out surveillance work on behalf of their clients.

In order to get work, the PI agencies are not too concerned about accruing evidence in a legal manner and are readily willing to break the law so they can get more work.

Some examples of the illegality ranged from bugging a phone to attaining bank account details. Some have even boasted about being able to bribe police in order to get hold of highly sensitive information they might otherwise not be able to do themselves without help of the law enforcement.

Although spying is now quite widely practised, some of the methods involved in gathering information can be in breach of the law. Although a lot of individuals nowadays use spy gadgets, they do so in a very discreet manner where the subject is completely oblivious to it, which obviously means no one is any the wiser and therefore no one is in breach because no one is supected.
