When it comes to the most creative surveillance gadgets, we can definitely put the Spy Kite with digital camera right up there. The designers had come with an excellent idea about using a wind flyer in order to cover a more extensive surveillance area. Even if many skeptics consider it just a novelty gadget, the Spy Kite can be successfully used in certain situations.

What makes Spy Kite interesting in the first place is the digital camera mounted on the kit’s frame. Users can take photographs from the air in order to check a certain location. The first thing that came into my mind when I saw the Spy Kite was that this is a good tool for paparazzi :) Can’t get there, have to send a spy device.

The Spy Kite is a delta wing model made of fiber glass, and it can be used regardless the weather (can’t guarantee though that the quality of the pictures will be high on a windy day). A remote control at the end of the string holder enables the users to take pictures while they remain on the ground. The Spy Kite can reach more than 80 feet in the air, but in order for the remote control to work you need maximum 80 feet.

You can then use the PC to download and edit the pictures. The digital camera’s resolution and memory are not indicated, but I hope they are good enough for the users to view clearly the images.

Although I don’t think anyone will use the kite for serious surveillance, the idea is good nonethless, but its just not covert enough for the really serious stuff, but using it to take photos of difficult to get to places is definately achievable.
