Protecting USB Using Combination Lock

Here is an interesting way to stop your data from being misused. The USB plug is locked using a password combination that needs to be correctly set before it can be opened for use.

It might be a good way to to protect information that isn’t highly confidential, but confidential enough to not want the possibility of others accessing it.

I suppose the owner must also choose a combination that they can remember or note it down somwehere to avoid forgetting it, or it could cause hassle when it comes to using it.

The reason why I say it may not be very effective for highly confidential information is because if you lose the USB stick and it comes into possesion of someone determined to get hold of any information on it can probably have it carefully dismantled. Also, it might have made more sense to use a 4-digit combination for even more protection because it would be very difficult to guess.

Also, this does not mean you should avoid encrypting files/folders for even greater protection.
