Having a security camera to overlook a property or even a small area is always reassuring that in the case of any illegal activity, some footage wil be available as proof. While regular CCTV security cameras would typically be used because they not only provide excellent recording, but the cameras in themselves can act as a deterrent. However, installing security camera is not always possible, especially if the situation requires temporrary recording, so how about using something pretty much everyone owns as a security camera – yes, you can use a mobile phone as a surveillance camera with sound. When the software is installed on the phone, it turns the phone into a video recording device that can send footage by simply turning its video camera option on, which the software allows it to do remotely. The footage can then be relayed and seen in a remote location on another phone live. The phone must be 3G capable.

VideoSpy is ideal to be used in various scenarios such as recording as a quick fix solution; small area such as doorway, a room, etc; it can also be used as a mobile surveillance rcording option as it obviously travels with you.

Disadvantages of using a mobile phone over a standard security camera are quite a few, especially the fact that a mobile would be, at least as of now, restricted to recording at a narrow angle rather than providing wide angle coverage. Of course, the video quality of some mobile phones is not great either.

Another problem is that the mobile phone would probably need to be hidden so it can record discreetly because the phone light would come on and the screen would light up which would further diminish it s abilty to record covertly, but a solution for that, according to the seller, is that the phone should be taped and only the lens should peek through. This particular software is also restricted only to Nokia phones.
